Las Vegas Shows Tiger Woods Now 2/1 Odds To Win U.S. Open

Las Vegas, Nevada (June 14, 2012)--It's starting to feel like old times. It's a major with Tiger Woods challenging and coming off a recent victory. And the Las Vegas golf betting odds on Woods off the charts as compared to other golfers in contention. Tiger Woods is now 2/1 to win, down from 7/1 prior to the start of the U.S. Open at Olympic. Next is Justin Rose at 8/1. Jim Furyk and Graeme McDowel are 15/1 followed by Nick Watney at 20/1. CLICK FOR MORE LAS VEGAS GOLF BETTING.-- By Brian Hurlburt, odds by Jeff Sherman. Tiger played solidly and recorded a 1-under par 69 in round one. He looked in control and appears to be ready to stay around the lead all weekend. And with a challenging layout, Tiger just might be the man to beat even though he trailed Michaal Thompson by three strokes after one round. "This golf course, it's so demanding," Tiger told the media after his round. "And if you're off your game just a little bit, you're going to pay the price. And it's hard to make pars. Phil and Bubba were off just a little bit. This is one of those Opens where it's just really hard to make birdies. This is not like I was last year. This is a tough one. This is tough to make birdies. You've got to really grind, and for me I thought I hit the ball well today and I didn't have a whole lot of putts from ten feet or 15 feet or in. It's just hard to get the ball close."

If you wanted to bet Thompson, Jeff Sherman, the assistant director of the LVH Superbook in Las Vegas, has him as part of the field and at 10/1. Thompson had only 22 putts during his round. But the shot of the day went to Las Vegas resident Nick Watney, who recorded a double eagle.

"I don't know what I was feeling," said Watney about the shot. "I can't really remember what I was feeling. It was kind of disbelief and joy, and it was really exciting. ... I haven't played nearly as well as I would like, and I've learned a lot of patience so far. So I feel like my game is really headed in a good direction obviously this week and the British Open in a couple weeks, a lot of big events left, so I'm looking forward to the rest of the year."
