Final Round Las Vegas Betting Odds For 2012 U.S. Open Show Co-Favorites

Las Vegas, Nevada (June 17, 2012)--Showing that nothing is ever certain in golf, the coronation of the new Tiger Woods appears to have been postponed ... again. Tiger fired a 75 in the 3rd round and is well off the leaders, Graeme McDowell and Jim Furyk. Those are two of the steadiest players in all of golf so it appears a golf miracle will need to happen for Tiger to lift major trophy fifteen. Furyk (9/4)and McDowell (5/2) are basically co-favorites (we'll let the math majors argue about the difference).--By Brian Hurlburt, odds by Jeff Sherman.

Tiger told the media following the round that he still believes he has a chance, despite being five shots back. "I'm definitely still in the ball game," said Woods. "I'm only five back and that's certainly doable on this golf course for sure."

Jeff Sherman, the founder of Las Vegas' GolfOdds.com, believed that Lee Westwood had the best power numbers heading into the Open. He has battled back and stands at +2. He is 6/1 to win.

"I think every time you get your self in contention you learn something new," said Westwood. "I've been in contention a lot in different kinds of positions, leading, coming from behind; and in this tournament and other tournaments, the Masters, I finished third, so I was in contention there. So, yeah, I pick little bits out of all of those, but the main thing is just to go out there and believe that I'm good enough. I must be, I keep getting myself in contention often enough. ... I think I've probably been this contention in Major Championships more than anybody else over the last three or four years. So I'm looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully going to go out and have some fun and see what happens." Quotes ASAPSports.com.
